The Results Part 2

The Hardys def. Lance Case and Trevor Murdoch

After a Side Effect from Matt Hardy, Lance Cade was left stunned on the canvas Sunday night, staring at the blinding arena lights as Jeff Hardy crashed down upon him with a Swanton Bomb.
As the referee slapped the sweat-covered mat for the 1-2-3, Cade had to be wondering what happened to his partner Trevor Murdoch, who was laying on the ringside matting, unable to stop the ref’s count.
He had to wonder what happened to his team’s well-crafted game plan to grab The Hardys’ World Tag Team Championship. Murdoch and Cade had The Hardys on the ropes multiple times during their Judgment Day match in which the blue-collar boys did everything by the book, breaking no rules.
They followed the tag team textbook to the letter – they divided the ring, tagged in and out frequently, and double-teamed their opponents within the official’s five-count. And yet, Cade was the one prone on the mat, watching The Hardys celebrate yet again.
What chapter of that tag team textbook covers disappointment? There must be pictures of the blue-collar duo as Exhibit A, coming so close again to toppling the Carolina kids.
After the match, with the crowd chanting, “shake their hands,” The Hardys offered good sportsmanship to their rivals as a consolation – the same sportsmanship offered to them numerous times in past weeks. They continued their praise post-match.
“We wanted to go out and have a great match with Cade and Murdoch, two guys who seem to have turned over a new leaf,” Matt Hardy told WWE.com. “To beat them … in the middle of the ring is quite an accomplishment for us. And it means that The Hardys’ seventh tag team title reign keeps rollin’ on.”
One has to wonder how much longer Cade and Murdoch can keep sportsmanship at the forefront as, again, they lose to the champions, seeing the prized tag titles walk out of the ring on their opponents’ waists.
How much longer can these blue-collar boys hold to their resolution to steadfastly keep to the rulebook? Or will these wolves in sheep's clothing come to the realization that rules – much like The Hardys title reign – are meant to be broken?

Edge def. Batista

Ever the opportunist, Edge took advantage of Batista’s injured leg, rolling up the wounded Animal to retain his World Heavyweight Championship at Judgment Day.
This rivalry was born when Edge shocked the world and cashed in the Money in the Bank two weeks ago on SmackDown to win the World Heavyweight Championship. He was immediately thrust into the path of Batista, who had been in hot pursuit of the title since losing it at WrestleMania 23. Batista’s constant chase of the title while in possession of Undertaker put him in numerous matches where he came up short, and just when it seemed as if another chapter would be written in the Batista vs. Undertaker rivalry, Edge speared his way to the spotlight, robbing our fans of another classic.
During his inaugural address this past week on SmackDown, Edge was interrupted by Batista and assured by the former champion, “that title is mine.” Prior to their match at Judgment Day, the Rated-R Superstar reiterated, “I did in three minutes what Batista could not do in three months, defeat one of the greatest champions of all time – The Phenom.” Edge continued, “News flash, this is my title, not yours Batista. The Rated-R era has begun.”
Like him or not (not that he cares), Edge made a huge statement by defeating Batista, perhaps living up to his word that a new era has indeed started on SmackDown. But for that era to be successful, Edge will have to undoubtedly face the same challenges from The Animal that Undertaker endured. Batista is hell-bent on regaining the gold, and despite his loss to Edge, don’t count him out just yet. Also not to be overlooked are the hosts of other hungry Superstars looking to make a name for themselves on SmackDown.
If anyone knows about making a name in sports-entertainment, it is the eternal opportunist who has twice cashed in Money in the Bank to win championships – the World Heavyweight Champion Edge.

MVP def. Benoit

After months of contending, SmackDown’s “Franchise Playa” is no longer pretending. At Judgment Day Sunday night, MVP got the monkey — or in this case, the Rabid Wolverine — off his back, pinning Chris Benoit twice consecutively to win the United States Championship.
Disregard the numbers — specifically, the scant 13 percent of AT&T Mobile voters who thought MVP would win a title at Judgment Day. Also forget that Benoit’s left knee had been badly wounded on SmackDown less than 48 hours prior, thanks in large part to a grueling match against Finlay, a surprise run-in by Porter and a shillelagh assault by the fighting Irishman. Heading into Sunday night, all our fans could remember was that MVP seemingly had the upper hand against Benoit both at WrestleMania 23 and at Backlash, and both times he came up just short of capturing championship bling.
Locker room sources suggested that the highest paid free agent in sports-entertainment might not have the intestinal investment to prevent Benoit from “three-peating” at Judgment Day. But on SmackDown Friday night, the hotshot Superstar promised Michael Cole that he would overcome the politics and doubting “playa-haters”— by defeating Benoit twice in one evening.
SmackDown color commentator JBL saw something in MVP that most critics couldn’t — or simply chose not to. He noted during Porter’s two previous losses that he had upped his game plan with each encounter, successfully countering the maneuvers of one of WWE’s most technical ring competitors. The advance scouting would finally pay off dividends Sunday night, as MVP utilized every counter he could muster, and capitalized on every opportunity to further damage the wounded Wolverine’s knee.
Benoit fought with the heart of a champion, and he’ll never make excuses about his injury. At the end of the night, however, MVP’s “A” game would ultimately produce two successive, clean pinfalls — an unbelievable accomplishment, considering the opponent — an elusive title, and the right to claim that the future of sports-entertainment is now “ballin’.”
“I told you so,” MVP arrogantly told WWE.com following the match. Then he took his ball — the United States Championship — and went home.

John Cena def. The Great Khali

Almost no one thought he could do it, but somehow, John Cena overcame the odds in the main event at Judgment Day. In a scenario reminiscent of the biblical battle of David vs. Goliath, Cena made The Great Khali tap out for the first time ever; as a result, The Champ is still here.

Three weeks in a row on Raw, Khali decimated Cena and left him in a heap, and many including Cena himself questioned how in the world he would overcome the giant at Judgment Day … or even if there was any way he could.

“The match worries me because I’m an attack guy, and the past few weeks Khali’s knocked me out,” Cena said in an interview with WWE.com earlier in the week. “I’m kind of at a loss about what to say … he’s just tough, man.”

Khali may be tough, but on this night, The Champ was tougher. The resilient champion always seems to rise to the occasion and beat the odds, and he did just that. Despite giving up over a foot in height and nearly 200 pounds, Cena found a way to take the Goliath off his feet.

For most of the match, however, it didn’t look like that would be the case. Khali used his sheer size and power advantage to dismantle the WWE Champion, manhandling him and tossing him around like a rag doll. So Cena got crafty, and after using the ring steps to take Khali off his feet, he locked the 7-foot monster in the STFU. With nowhere to go, Khali tapped out, and The Champ had overcome the odds once again.

It was truly an impressive (and improbable) victory for the WWE Champion, magnified even more by the fact that he made Khali do something he’d never done before: tap out. After the match, even Cena was unsure exactly how he managed that impressive feat.

“Usually, I have some type of an answer for every question, but I honestly don’t have one for that one,” Cena said, adding after a long pause, “You never really go into a fight knowing that you’re going to lose. I have no idea how it happened, I really don’t. I just latched on and held on for dear life.”

There’s an old saying made famous in the NFL that on any given Sunday, any one team can beat another; on this particular Sunday, regardless of how it was done, the record will show that John Cena amazingly defeated The Great Khali.

This was awesome.

I said in my prediction earlier that i nearly fully expected Carlito to beat Ric Flair simply because i felt he was getting a head of steam and a slow rise up the ladder. Ric Flair won though and i'm glad he did, he took him to school and there's not a better way to beat him than with the Figure Four Leg Lock.

Firstly i really didn't expect Bobby Lashley to get through the McMahons and Umaga in around 3 minutes. He did though to my surprise and i just couldn't really believe what was going on but as Vince slowly starting walking up the ramp i had a feeling it wasn't over and there was something more. As he walked round the ring towards the ring annoucer i just knew somehow he hadn't lost the ECW World Title, i thought he was going to say something like the title wasn't on the line but he had something just as crafty as we all saw.

I wasn't sure who was going to win this one as i said. I felt Elijah Burke needed to win this match for the New Breed to be seen as a dominate faction in ECW and this loss will hurt him and the New Breed bad unless he gets revenge.

All the credit in the world for Shawn Michaels even walking down to the ring for this match. I actually thought during the match that the Sweet Chin Music would come out of nowhere and he would win it but he collasped at one point when he tryed to do it and that was it for him. When Randy Orton was watching him get up you just knew he was going to RKO him, what a punk he is.

I'm glad The Hardys kept their Tag Team Championships, i thought Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch would turn on them after the match but they didn't. I'm still pretty sure they will do somewhere down the line.

I wanted Edge to win this, i don't care what people say, it's alot more interesting when Edge is the World Heavyweight Champion rather than Batista. He didn't cheat either which surprised me a bit, i thought if he won this match he would cheat to do it somehow but he didn't.

Also glad about this, MVP is well and truely BALLINNNN' now. Surprised that he got two pin-falls in a row though. Anyone who's watched WWE and Chris Benoit over the years will tell you that was a big shock, i expected it to be 2-1 to Benoit in the match. As much as i like and respect Chris Benoit i'm glad that MVP won the United States Championship.

I told you John Cena would win this, people were saying "It's impossible" and although i said at one point the only way John Cena could win was if The Great Khali got himself disqualified i doubted that such a big match would end that way. I also slighty forgot that John Cena had the SFTU in his moves and it was good how he won it although i thought The Great Khali was going to get to the ropes. Glad John Cena won and kept his WWE Championship.

Hehe, Lol. These matches were great! I was sooooo happy when i read that John Cena Won Khali, even though i said it was impossible he showed me otherwise, just proves that he's a true Champion. Khali's undefeatable reign is finally over thanks to John Cena, The Champ whos 'still here'.
